OUR STORY
-
MAKES SENSE TO ME is world’s first bookshop specialising in neurodiversity. We have a diverse range of books of all genres for everyone to enjoy that we hope to share with you online and in-person in all available formats. The neurodivergent (ND) bookshop exclusively sells books with ND and/or disabled participation. We actively challenge ableist attitudes and practices by embracing difference, valuing lived-experience and operating on the principle of nothing about us without us.

My entrepreneurial journey began with a personal struggle, a struggle that many others share but often goes unnoticed. I have often felt like an outsider, somehow incredibly in-sync with nature yet out of sync with society. Misunderstood and trying extra hard to perform personhood correctly.

It was only recently that I discovered I am multiply neurodivergent. This revelation was both a relief and a challenge. It explained so much about my experiences, but it also left me with a lot of questions. So, I found myself devouring books, trying to understand myself and my place in the world. It was through this journey that I realised there was a gap in our society, a lack of understanding and support for people like me.

Storytelling through books and artforms have always been my inspiration, my source of understanding and solace. They've helped me make sense of myself and the world around me. But I realised that for most history neurodivergent stories have not been told and those that have, were not by neurodivergent individuals themselves.

We need more spaces where we can feel seen, heard, and comfortable being ourselves. That's why I decided to start MAKES SENSE TO ME, a space designed with neurodivergence in mind. Embracing minds one book at a time. Nurturing moments that make sense!
